There is a big difference between enteric capsules and gastric capsules. Firstly, enteric capsules are resistant to stomach acid, but they are not resistant to the mixing of digestive juices in the intestine. So enteric capsules will dissolve in the intestine, whereas gastric capsules are not acid resistant and so will dissolve in the stomach.
Gastric capsules usually dissolve in half an hour, whereas enteric capsules usually dissolve after 2 hours, as the human stomach takes 2 hours to empty.
Enteric vegetable capsules avoids the risks associated with taking animal proteins and ensures the green safety of the capsules, providing a new way of enteral delivery of special pharmaceuticals (which are prone to cross-linking and curing reactions with protein-based substances).
It expands the scope of capsules in the pharmaceutical field and brings a more convenient, fast, safe and effective solution for the administration of special pharmaceuticals, as well as the possibility for pharmaceutical companies to manufacture special types of enteric-soluble drugs quickly, in large quantities and low cost.
