Avoid dry swallowing
Drugs packed in hard capsules are generally powders or granules that are irritant to gastrointestinal tract, bad in taste, volatile and easy to be decomposed by enzymes in oral cavity or inhaled into trachea. These drugs are encapsulated, which not only protects the drugs from destruction, but also protects the digestive tract and respiratory tract. Dry swallowing of drugs is not only easy to cause choking cough, once drugs stay in esophagus, they may also damage mucous membrane. It is suggested that you can drink 50ml of water to moisten the oral cavity and esophagus to prevent the capsule from staying on the esophagus, and then take it with 200ml of water.
Avoid stripping
Some drugs are easily broken down by enzymes in the oral cavity, and they will fail if they are peeled off. Drugs with strong irritation to gastrointestinal tract may cause stomachache if peeled off and eaten. Slow-release, controlled-release and enteric-coated capsules should not be peeled off, otherwise the onset time will be affected.
Do not use hot water to take it
Hot water is not suitable for hard capsules to be taken, so as to prevent capsule shell from softening and adhering to esophagus, accelerate drug release speed and affect onset time.
